Why Photography

As we travel through life we are walking through the ultimate experience of God’s wonderous gallery of creation! Photography is a gift to eyes that are enamored by the unexplainable beauty that is all around us. To see in childlike eyes is to awaken daily into a world of wonderment and joy!

The peace that a calming breeze brings as you sit and watch ripples across a lake, or the crashing of the waves as the sun sets behind the ocean…our world is a magical place.

Photography gives me that chance to celebrate and be grateful for the beauty that surrounds us everyday.

I’ve had a camera in my minds eye for a long time…

I am the youngest of many siblings. I grew up with six of those siblings and the rest i never met. My dad and my grandmother are my heroes. They worked very hard to help mold and shape me into the soul I am today. Life was not perfect but I don’t know many people who have a perfect life. That being said, I’ve suffered with anxiety since a very early age.

The medium of photography helps to calm that anxiousness and slow me down. I use it as a daily journal of gratitude and to keep me grounded.

My why is to photograph what I love and that is the simplicity of my life, which to me is grander than fame and fortune. What my photographs represent is my honest vision of my blessings.

Welcome to my eyes…

Favorite Quotes on Photography:

“In every artist there is poetry. In every human being there is the poetic element. We know, we feel, we believe.”

“A picture is the expression of an impression. If the beautiful were not in us, how would we ever recognize it?”

“You become things, you become an atmosphere, and if you become it, which means you incorporate it within you, you can also give it back. You can put this feeling into a picture. A painter can do it. And a musician can do it and I think a photographer can do that too and that I would call the dreaming with open eyes.”

“I am not interested in shooting new things – I am interested to see things new.”

Ernst Haas

“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.”

“A great photograph is one that fully expresses what one feels, in the deepest sense, about what is being photographed.”

“No man has the right to dictate what other men should perceive, create or produce, but all should be encouraged to reveal themselves, their perceptions and emotions, and to build confidence in the creative spirit.”

“Some photographers take reality… and impose the domination of their own thought and spirit. Others come before reality more tenderly and a photograph to them is an instrument of love and revelation.”
